The Astros, fresh off a 4-3 win on Tuesday that included a key replay review challenge getting overturned in their favor, scored three runs in the first inning on an Alex Bregman homer. It sent the crowd of 40,398 at Minute Maid Park into a frenzy. Andrew Heaney hit the next batter, Yordan Alvarez, with an 0-2 pitch before getting out of the inning. In the third Framber Valdez hit Semien with a pitch, drawing warnings from the umpires. Over the next two innings, there were two more close pitches to Alvarez and to Nathaniel Lowe.
But the Rangers scored two in third on Lowe’s two-out homer, then scored four more with two outs in the third, including a two-run homer by Semien. It set up the fifth.
