However, he is now facing the possibility of a bleak future for both club and country as he joined former Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson as one of the most experienced players of Southgate's England tenure to be left without a seat on next month's flight to Germany. And, as a result, it has been reported that INEOS are admirers of the Three Lions' boss and would be keen to lure him to Old Trafford in the off-season.
"I just feel other players in that area of the pitch have had better seasons," said Southgate at a press conference on Tuesday afternoon. "That’s it."
