ZURICH, Switzerland: President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. said that it is time for the Philippine government to reexamine its policy on Philippine offshore gaming operators to determine if their presence is still beneficial to the country.Marcos made the statement after Finance Secretary Benjamin Diokno said that the country should do away with POGOs, citing their social and reputational risks.
Well, if China wants us to do that, we'll see what the arrangement could be, 'di ba?'Diokno earlier said in a Development Budget Coordination Committee briefing for senators that the Philippines can do away with POGOs since the revenue the government is getting from them is on a continuous decline.Diokno said the total revenue generated by POGOs was estimated at P3.9 billion in 2021, in comparison with the P7.2 billion recorded in the previous year.
