PRESIDENT Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. hit the ground running for 2023, leaving for China on Tuesday for his three-day state visit, his first bilateral visit to a non-member country of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations since assuming the presidency.Upon the invitation of his counterpart Xi Jinping, the Chief Executive will be in the capital of Beijing from January 3 to 5.

While there, Marcos said he aims to 'broaden cooperation in various areas such as agriculture, energy, infrastructure, science and technology, trade and investment, among others.'The President is also expected to discuss the Philippines' territorial row with China in the South China, a long-standing issue between the two nations in his face-to-face with Xi.
