The Marcos administration is serious in running after alleged hoarders and smugglers that have been manipulating the prices of onions in the market, a Palace official said Tuesday.
"You can expect, you can believe that we are in earnest about hoarders. Matagal na namin tinututukan 'yan kasi hindi maganda sa taumbayan ," Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin told GMA News Online in a phone interview.
Bersamin said this when asked about the recommendation of the National Bureau of Investigation to the Department of Justice to file complaints against individuals, including government officials, involved in the alleged manipulation of onion prices in 2022. Bersamin also said it would be the prosecuting arm of the government who would identify and release information about those involved in the alleged hoarding of onions.
