Over the past 28 years, numerous witnesses have reported seeing Ms Ryan that night, and an ABC radio series hasMs Ryan's surviving relatives hoping answers will come from the renewed police focus on her disappearance.On hearing gripping new details about Ms Ryan, police at Morwell in the Latrobe Valley requested access to a box of files from the shelves of the Missing Persons Unit in Melbourne to reopen the case.

"So hopefully in conjunction with airing this series, it might bring some more witnesses forward or provide some new information."Senior Constable Lamont said five local police were taking on Ms Ryan's case, trawling through documents and files."We do all still have our usual duties and workload commitments alongside this, so we're trying to work on this in the background.She said police had already found new evidence.
