for allegedly driving while drunk on the north side, San Antonio City Councilman Marc Whyte was charged with DWI by the Bexar County District Attorney's Office. The charge was filed early Wednesday afternoon, according to records.
Driving while intoxicated carries a punishment of up to 180 days in jail and/or a fine of up to $2,000 for adults who are convicted. Those found guilty may also have their license suspended for two years. On the morning of Dec. 29, Whyte was pulled over on the north side and administered a field sobriety test by San Antonio police, but refused to submit a breathalyzer or blood test before authorities submitted a warrant. Asked by an SAPD officer if he felt he was sober, Whyte could be heard in body camera footage saying:"Yes, sir, a thousand percent." "We got to let the legal process play out and then we're going to see where we are at the end of this," Whyte said at the time."But I'm never going to shy away from it, and this is what it is, and I have to deal with it now."
