Leonard left Hearts as a teenager for Brighton and Jon Brady reckons he's now ready for the top level in Scotland.
That is the view of Northampton boss Jon Brady who had the midfielder on loan at Sixfields this season and he has been a standout in England’s League One. Leonard is now attracting major interest from the English Championship for next season and Brady reckons that both of the Scottish Premiership giants should be looking closely at the young Scot.
Leonard helped Northampton win promotion from League Two and returned this season and helped the Cobblers take the step up but also won their player and young player of the year awards. Brady would love to keep the ex-Hearts youngster next season but reckons he has now outgrown Northampton and is ready to step up the levels.
“The improvement in him has been scary. He came as a very good technical player but now he has gone up so many levels. “He has risen to every challenge we gave him and in the end, he was just grabbing games by the scruff of the neck and being a real difference maker. He came as a young player but has left Northampton as a man.”
