A Maple Heights High School student is facing felonious assault charges after using a box cutter while fighting a student Tuesday.
MAPLE HEIGHTS, Ohio - "Prior to the physical altercation the two involved students exchanged words in the classroom and the two squared up with each other and began mutually fighting,” Maple Heights police wrote in a press release.
During a break in the altercation, police say one of the students retrieved a box cutter from his bookbag before physically fighting the other student again.School security and police officers detained both parties, officials say, and the student injured by the box cutter was treated by the Maple Heights Fire Department personnel and transported to Metro Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police say the student who had the box cutter cut his hand and was taken to Marymount Hospital to be treated for superficial injuries.
