Readers don’t support the Maple Avenue Project; describe lots of wastefulness in the government; and advocate for removing privet to help with homelessness.A group of cyclists commute along a section of Maple Avenue after leaving a meeting which was conducted to allow city officials the opportunity to hear from local residents on proposed changes including reducing lanes on a section of Maple Avenue. The meeting was held at 3505 Maple Avenue in Dallas on Nov. 1, 2024.
As an impressionable teenager, I was shocked to see how the government operated. After college, I also worked as a civilian at different Army posts and encountered the same thing. I can only imagine how much waste has occurred during the 40-plus years since then.is as out of touch with this city as is the Dallas City Council. This editorial suggested voters were duped by the STU referendums. How condescending.
The fix starts with bringing in someone new for city manager and citizens electing folks who want to make Dallas a city that works again.Encampments in Dallas parks are under discussion by City Hall’s Parks, Trails and the Environment Committee. I agree with some members’ concern that the causes of homelessness need addressing. But conditions enabling encampments to take root in Dallas parks must be dealt with now.
