Millions of Americans are set to sizzle after being warned to brace for a potentially record-breaking heatwave due to hit huge swathes of the country this week.California will be particularly badly affected, according to the National Weather Service. Forecasters warned the state to expect 'excessive' heat, with the mercury set to soar well into the hundreds by Wednesday and Thursday.
'A severe early-season heatwave will roast California, Arizona, and Nevada this week, breaking numerous heat records,' McCarthy captioned the image. 'Excessive Heat Warnings/Watches are in effect for tens of millions, including Sacramento, Las Vegas, and Phoenix. Death Valley could record its earliest 125°F temperature in recorded history on Thursday.
