Quick-moving wildfire scorches historic California gold mining town, burning multiple homesParts of Vallecito, Douglas Flat and Murphys were included in the evacuation order for the 2-7 Fire, which by Wednesday morning had burned 590 acres, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
Another evacuation order covered a less populated area near Don Pedro Reservoir, where the 6-5 Fire had burned 6,837 acres, including, in Tuolumne and Calaveras counties. On Wednesday, six of them were 150 acres or larger. Cal Fire put the complex’s combined area at about 12,000 acres . The map above shows the 2-7 Fire as the large fire icon, and the five largest of the other fires as dots. The evacuation areas are shown in red.
