Only two out of 26 universities confirmed that the Special Investigating Unit approached them during the investigation into fraudulent payments of R5 billion to unqualifying students.
Sol Plaatje University spokesperson Qondakele Sompondo said the university did form part of the investigation, which was done nationally.We take any allegations of financial impropriety very seriously and fully cooperate with the investigation to ensure that all relevant information is provided. To date, Sompondo said, no findings had been communicated to the university, nor had there been any consultations to discuss potential issues.
