Since the death of 12-year-old Gavin Peterson in West Haven , community members shared they reported abuse concerns long before his passing.
Instead of answering the questions, they sent a resource packet, stating they were in the process of making it available online for the public. While he isn’t connected to the West Haven case, he explained that, given the school district confirmed reports were filed to the state, there should be a detailed paper trail.
"When you make that call, does it guarantee there will be eyes on that child in some capacity?" he was asked. He replied, "I can say that depending on the circumstances, we may have disgruntled neighbors, or we have a domestic situation where they’re going through a divorce, and somebody is trying to weaponize the welfare check system where law enforcement is constantly going to check on the children.
