Ethereum co-founder and Polkadot creator Gavin Wood shares insights on why superficial decentralization will not indefinitely suffice. Plus, how many DeFi protocols that ignore the rules will have regulators knocking on their door.
We will see a tightening regulatory environment that blockchains and the Blockchain hosted services will come under and that decentralization in name only is, is not gonna cut it indefinitely. I think the situation is fluid. Um I don't think that, that I can say with certainty that decentralization isn't gonna as a requirement isn't gonna, you know, magically evaporate in 10 years time due to political changes in the world.
But I think from what I can see at the moment, it's not going away. It's only gonna get tighter and defi many defi protocols flagrantly, uh disregard regulatory uh uh requirements in many parts of the world and the people behind them are probably gonna start having their doors knocked on if they're not, if they're not careful to ensure that they are 100% out of the loop.
