The mysterious website includes a parody video of Satan.
You might also likeUploaded to the website at that time was a parody video of the devil and a group of students inside a classroom. Both poked fun of the show and Christianity. The devil bemoans the show's stellar ratings and other elements. At one point, Satan tears up after watching a clip of the show.
It's unclear whether this was a clever marketing ploy by Utah-based Angel Studios. However, elements of the video suggest that it was just that. A spokesman for Angel Studios did not immediately respond to a phone call and text message requesting comment. “The Chosen,” stars Jonathan Roumie as Jesus. The company crowdfunded the series, raising over $11 million to bring the show to life, according to its website.
According to Angel Studios, it had erected more than a dozen similar billboards across the country. There are three in Texas, including Houston and Dallas. The original billboards encouraged people to"binge Jesus.". Several people who commented on the post were angry that the billboard had been vandalized. Others were angry with the show and its producers.
