In a Facebook post, Manie Libbok took the high ground in reacting to social media commentary about him.The post was liked and shared by hundreds of his followers, who wished him well for the duration of the Rugby World Cup.Earlier this week, Manie shared is reaction to a picture of him alongside Handre Pollard, whom he has been unfairly compared to. Both Libbok and Pollard played in the Boks’s last game against Tonga.
Pollard – who played for the first 50 minutes of the match – scored four successful conversions. Libbok later substituted him and scored three conversions himself.According to SA Rugby’s Rassie Erasmus, the Springboks management are still deliberating over whether to select either Handre Pollard or Manie Libbok to potentially play in the Rugby World Cup quarter-finals.
In a post-match briefing, he said, “Handre made four kicks and Manie three, so we kicked seven out of seven. It’s a tough call we will have to make.“If we go five/three, maybe both can be in the mix. If we go six/two, it’s a possibility; if we go seven/one, then things might look a little different”.
