The suspect had been on the lam for two years before his arrest earlier this month on multiple warrants — including the 2021 shooting death of a 29-year-old man in Minnesota, alleged parole violation and firearms possession. Kevin Mason, 28, was “mistakenly released” from the Marion County detention center in Indianapolis on Sept. 13.“Our clerk that was reviewing it sees three Minnesota holds, didn’t realize what she was doing, obviously,” Martin said.
“For 27 months I’ve been trying to get some type of justice and then now I just feel like we’re back at square one,” the victim’s sister, Shannell Catchings,“I just felt like not only is it Indiana’s fault, I feel like it’s Minnesota’s fault as well.”
