And United have a proud history of recovering from mid-season shellackings – Everton 1956, Newcastle & Southampton 1996, Chelsea 1999, Liverpool 2009 – to have the last LOL. Their assumed target for the season was a trophy and a place in the top four, and they’re still well on course for that.
