Varane's fitness has been a concern throughout the season, with six separate absences and participation in only 93 of a possible 154 matches for United. Since Ryan Giggs hung up his boots in 2014, only Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Michael Carrick, and Cristiano Ronaldo have continued to play for the Red Devils past their 36th birthday.
Donny van de Beek, Jadon Sancho, Facundo Pellistri and Mason Greenwood will still be under contract if they return after June 30. Van de Beek's limited game time at Eintracht Frankfurt suggests the Bundesliga side may not exercise their option to buy. Heaton, who was denied a move to Luton Town in the summer when United triggered the one-year extension in his contract, turns 38 next week. The former England international was on the bench ahead of the fit-again Altay Bayindir at Chelsea but was dropped from the matchday squad against Liverpool.
Forson had previously considered a move away from Old Trafford in January and had been linked with Arsenal in 2020. While a left-footed forward is a key requirement for United, Forson's departure would not be a significant loss.
