Man Utd will make at least one change to their side when they host Nottingham Forest in the Premier League this weekend.

A year ago, Christian Eriksen was the standout of all Manchester United's summer signings. Now, he isn't even guaranteed minutes and has yet to start either of the opening two Premier League matches.

Eriksen's skillset as a creative midfielder could make him the ideal choice this weekend, though he himself faces the challenge of proving that he deserves to be starting matches as well. The 31-year-old was one of the standout performers from United's strong recovery to their poor start to last season, and despite only being signed for a supplementary role, he soon became undroppable, such was his influence on matches.

United were already paying the price for their over-reliance on the Danish international as his influence began to dwindle after an extended run of matches, but the ankle injury certainly proved to be the final straw. Eriksen might well dispute that himself, though it is now up to him to prove otherwise and put in a string of performances that prove he still has value in occupying a regular role from the start.

Whereas the arrival of Mount initially looked like it had ended any hope of Eriksen returning to the starting midfield, his slow start to life at Old Trafford could in fact provide the latter with an unexpected early chance to reclaim his spot.
