It will be the first time
Manchester is set to host another political party conference this year — but the Conservatives won’t be coming back.
Closer to home, the party also successfully defended a seat on Manchester council for the first time in the local elections in May. Coun Rob Nunney, who represents the Woodhouse Park ward in Wythenshawe, held on to his title — meaning the Green Party still holds all three councillors in the ward covering Manchester Airport.
Some 1,200 delegates will attend the conference from September 6-8, meaning it’s thought the event will bring a £1.7 million boost to Manchester’s economy. the Greens will hold their conference in the city.
