Montgomery police are investigating two deadly weekend shootings.
According to MPD, units were called to the the 300 block of Burgwyn Road around 9:26 p.m. Saturday night. Officers found 26-year-old Jimontae Rivers with a gunshot wound. Rivers was pronounced dead at the scene., and four others were injured at a crowded party in the North Pass area of the city.
In a separate incident reported by police Sunday evening, a woman was shot in the 4000 block of Troy Highway. MPD responded to the scene around 5:11 p.m. The victim, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. An MPD spokeswoman confirmed that a woman was taken into custody in the 300 block of North Ripley Street in connection to that shooting and charges are pending.
The Montgomery Police Department is investigating both shootings as homicides. No additional information has been released at this time. Police ask anyone with any information to contact CrimeStoppers at 215-STOP, Secret Witness at 625-4000, or MPD at 625-2831.
