Jarret Malec, 25, was charged earlier this month after, police said, they found numerous illicit images on his electronic devices.
Round Lake Police Chief Dave Prus said Thursday that his department had received a tip earlier from local and federal cyber analysts indicating that someone was downloading the illegal images. After some investigation, police appeared at Malec’s residence in the 500 block of West Wildspring Road.
Malec spoke with officers and surrendered some electronic devices, which turned up the alleged child pornography, Prus said. Police returned with a search warrant and took other devices, which are being analyzed, the chief said.Malec told police that he had done some coaching in a Lake Forest youth baseball association, but police have not found any evidence of suspicious actions related to that, Prus said.
