A school board meeting in the Sacramento area was cut short last week after a man with ties to the Proud Boys made incendiary remarks that sent the audience into a furor.
, a neo-fascist organization that promotes and engages in political violence in the U.S. His remarks at Thursday's meeting — in which he echoed the homophobic trope that the LGBTQ community is full of"pedophile groomers" — were met with jeers from the audience.
The Roseville Joint Union High School District did not respond to a request for comment from SFGATE in time for publication. Perrine apparently made good on his promise to protest outside Tinnin's house Thursday night and was arrested by police. Citrus Heights Police Sgt. Anthony Boehle told SFGATE that officers discovered Perrine outside Tinnin's house around 9:30 p.m. Boehle said that Perrine had been"yelling profanities" through a bullhorn, according to neighbors present. Boehle said Perrine was arrested for disturbing the peace but was not booked into jail.
In the video — which the church says is highly edited in a way that takes Tinnin's remarks out of context — Tinnin can be seen saying that parents would be upset if they knew their LGBTQ children were coming to him for support. He also seems to say that it's"critical" to talk to children about their sexual identity when they're young and says his"standard procedure" is to call Child Protective Services on parents who purposefully misgender their kids.
