Jamar Banks of Brooklyn was arrested on Sunday, January 8th, in connection with two separate stabbing attacks on the New York City subway. The first attack occurred on New Year's Day on the Northbound 2 Train in Manhattan, where a 31-year-old man was stabbed in the back. The second attack took place the following morning on the Northbound 5 Train platform in the Bronx, where a 47-year-old MTA employee was stabbed in the back and armpit. Banks is accused of engaging in verbal disputes with both victims before attacking them. Police issued a wanted flyer identifying Banks as a suspect after the attacks, warning officers to use 'extreme caution' when approaching him.

It turns out a man who allegedly stabbed two people in separate incidents on a New York City subway reportedly has a lengthy criminal record .

The next morning, an off-duty Metropolitan Transportation Authority employee was stabbed in the back and armpit with a knife on the Northbound 5 Train platform. Authorities alleged that Banks was the suspect as well in the second stabbing incident. The 47-year-old male victim was also approached by Banks before he initiated an argument, according to police. Banks again took off after the alleged attack.

The media outlet cited police sources who also said Banks has a history of mental illness and is frequent rider of the No. 2 and No. 5 subway lines.In December, a sleeping woman was set on fire while riding in a subway car. The murder suspect in that case was identified as, an an illegal immigrant who pleaded not guilty to the murder charge on Tuesday.
