Two Queensland siblings who “can’t sleep” due to a rare disease are now facing the “unthinkable” after one of them has been given just weeks to live.

reporter Hayley Webb, 37, and her brother Lachlan, 35, were in 2015 diagnosed with Fatal Familial Insomnia , an extremely rare degenerative disease that affects your ability to sleep.

Lachlan Webb and his little sister Hayley were both diagnosed with Fatal Familial Insomnia in 2015. Picture: Today Show Hayley has launched a GoFundMe page to help provide Lachlan with vital healthcare after her brother began “experiencing aggressive symptoms” six months ago. “We’ve always known there was a risk of the disease ‘triggering’ at some point, never in a million nightmares did we think it would strike so early.”

“While there’s no amount of money that will ever ease this nightmare, by helping to alleviate some of the financial pressures it will mean we can focus on what’s important right now, which is spending quality time together as a family,” she said.FFI was first identified in their family when their grandma died aged 69. Since then they have lost four more members, including their mum, to the rare disease.
