A man wanted in a homicide from 2020 was arrested after a Northeast Side standoff that started Wednesday night and ended Thursday afternoon.

The situation began as covert detectives had a woman suspected of robbery under surveillance about 6 p.m. Wednesday, San Antonio police Sgt. Washington Moscoso said. There, the officers saw the woman with three men in an apartment, including one man wanted on a warrant for the 2020 homicide. Police surrounded the apartment and tried to get them to come out, Moscoso said. They refused and continued to do so into Thursday morning, when the woman whom police were initially following surrendered.
Negotiators attempted to coax the three men out for seven hours. Throughout the standoff, officers directed people in and out of the apartment complex. Police also deployed drones to help observe the men inside.About 3 p.m., several booms could be heard as the SWAT team deployed chemical agents into the building to compel the suspects to come out.
