Man walking on I-15 near Miramar dies after being hit by suspected DUI driver [Breaking]
A 39-year-old man walking on Interstate 15 in the Miramar area early Sunday was struck by a car and killed, and the driver who hit him was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, authorities said.He had pulled over to the side of northbound I-15 before he started walking on the freeway and was struck by a black Lexus sedan around 4:10 a.m., said California Highway Patrol Officer Jesse Matias.
It isn’t known if his car had some kind of mechanical problem. It also wasn’t clear how much time elapsed between when he pulled over and when he was hit just north of Miramar Road, Matias said.The 23-year-old driver who struck him stopped and remained at the site after the collision.Matias said the county Medical Examiner’s Office would conduct toxicology tests to determine if the pedestrian was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
