Man United midfielder Mason Mount has been absent with injury since November and a date has finally been set for his return from the sidelines.
Manchester United fans were given an injury update yesterday on a player it would have been easy to forget still played for the club.
Mount has made just 12 appearances since signing from Chelsea in the summer for an initial fee of £55million and having him back from injury will be like welcoming a new signing. Many have questioned why Mount was signed, especially after the emergence of Kobbie Mainoo, and the player will have a point to prove when he's available for selection again.
The 25-year-old has the qualities to play in a deeper role and on paper Casemiro, Mount and Fernandes should work. However, that trio have only started together three times and the midfield looked unbalanced on each occasion, with Mount struggling in his new position. Mainoo has broken into the side since Mount was last fit and it's difficult to see how the former Chelsea star replaces him in the starting team in a position he's learning about.
