Henning Berg sees some parallels between the clubs - but knows where they stop
There have been plenty of parallels to be drawn between Rangers and Manchester United in recent years.
The former Norway defender Berg, one of just 12 men to have played for both sides, told Record Sport: “The parallels are that both are massive clubs in their region. They both have a great history in British football with many, many titles. “When both Sir Alex and Gill left, it was difficult to keep the same quality. Yes they’ve had many good managers since then who have had success in other places, but with United at that time repeating it was very difficult to do.
“With all the changes going on above, maybe they decided that changing the manager might mean there’s too little continuity at the club and that’s why they opted against it,” said Berg.
