Man United's top goalscorer from last season has struggled to make the same impact in the new Premier League campaign.
Most Manchester United fans will never turn on their own but supporters are becoming increasingly frustrated with Marcus Rashford.
Rashford has contributed one goal and two assists and his lack of end product has brought intense scrutiny on other areas of his game, invariably creating a conversation that was unthinkable last season. Most supporters feared how the team would perform without Rashford's goals and they've now found out. United have lost five of their nine matches and that includes back-to-back league defeats at Old Trafford.
The task for Erik ten Hag, who was backed in the summer transfer market again by taking the spending from his tenure to over £400million including add-ons, was to build on last season but the side is regressing. "I think he knows he can do better than he does now and I am sure it will come," Ten Hag said when asked about his form. "He works hard and that is what he is doing. He will net, he will finish and it will come but it is not going to be automatic.
Rashford has always felt like a confidence player and his record over the years shows he can blow hot and cold. You only become a world-class player by consistently producing over a period of time and that's where he falls short.
