A 39-year-old man was struck and killed by an Amtrak train in Plainsboro on Tuesday night, authorities said.
The man was hit at 6:54 p.m. as he was walking on the tracks just east of the Princeton Junction station by a train No. 178, which was en route to Boston from Washington, D.C.,Plainsboro police Lt. John Bresnen said the man was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity was not released pending notification of his family.
Multiple train passengers reported on Twitter they were stopped for more than five hours after the man was hit. Other Amtrak and NJ Transit trains were also delayed for hours as police investigated, both agencies said. The Princeton Junction station is near the northern end of West Windsor, close to the township’s border with Plainsboro.
