Man struck by multiple cars, killed while walking on I-5 in Barrio Logan [Breaking]
A man was killed after he was struck by multiple vehicles while walking on Interstate 5 in Logan Heights late Thursday night, the California Highway Patrol said.
He was struck just before 10:45 p.m. while in northbound lanes near Sampson Street, CHP Officer Jesse Matias said. The man was first hit by a gray Lexus SUV, then struck by “an unknown number” of other vehicles, Matias said.The 55-year-old Lexus driver stopped at the scene, and investigators do not suspect the driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs, Matias said.
It is too soon to know if the man who died was under the influence of drugs or alcohol; a toxicology report is pending, Matias said.Anyone who was involved in or who witnessed the collision was asked to contact CHP Officer J. Byerly at 293-6000.
