A man stole a Long Beach Fire Department ambulance from a San Pedro hospital Monday morning, March 20, and drove it two miles before Los Angeles police caught up with him.
The ambulance was stolen from Little Company of Mary Medical Center San Pedro Providence, at 1300 W. Seventh Street, Lt. Sharon Brady of the Los Angeles Police Department. The suspect was undergoing treatment at the hospital. The LAPD was notified at 2:45 a.m. that Long Beach authorities were tracking the stolen ambulance, Brady said. Officers found it in the 600 block of 18th Street a short time later, with the suspect standing outside, Brady said, with the keys and some fire equipment.
