'All those lives ruined...it's so sad': Neighbours' shock as man 'stabbed to death' on quiet cul-de-sac named
A man 'stabbed to death' on a cul-de-sac in Tameside has been named as a murder investigation continues. Rees Howarth, thought to be 28, died following the attack in Hyde on Sunday afternoon.
Much of the small cul-de-sac remained cordoned off. One neighbour said she was in the back garden when she heard police arrive on the street at about 3pm on Sunday. "They didn't know what they were running into, but they just ran straight in. I used to see him [the victim] every day walking an Alsatian puppy up and down the street.A person living nearby said the victim 'was stabbed in the garden in front of everyone enjoying their Sunday afternoon', although that account was disputed by others who said the street was empty at the time.
A file in relation to Mr Howarth's death has been passed to Stockport Coroners' Court, a spokesperson confirmed. In a statement earlier Det Chf Insp Mark Davis, of GMP's Major Incident Team, appealed for information.
