Authorities are asking for the public’s help in finding Austin Michael Weathers, a man they say fraudulently tried to cash a check for more than $100,000.
Authorities said they placed into evidence a check in an amount of $106,241.42 that was reportedly issued by PNC Bank. They also had a fake temporary state driver’s license the man was alleged to have used.
Austin Michael Weathers is wanted on multiple felony charges after police say he tried to cash a fake check for more than $100,000. At the time, police said, Weathers had active felony warrants for failing to appear on the charges of trafficking in stolen identities, probation revocation, and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
On Oct. 4, the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office issued new warrants against Weathers for identity theft, obstructing justice using a false identity, attempted theft, possession of a forged instrument and fleeing police. All of the new charges but one are felony crimes.Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call police at 205-849-2811 or 911.
