The Pierce County medical examiner on Friday identified the man as Jerome Holman.
According to a release from the, Holman died from gunshot wounds to his torso and his manner of death was homicide.
At 5:47 p.m. on Jan. 27, deputies were called to a report of a suspicious man in a vehicle parked at O’Reilly’s Auto Parts in the 14900 block of Pacific Avenue South. Deputies arrived, contacted the man and radioed that shots were fired at 5:56 p.m., according to a news release from the Pierce County Force Investigation Team.
A spokesperson with the department confirmed a deputy had shot Holman who was taken to the hospital where he later died.The investigation remains ongoing.
