Man threatens neighbors with gun, prompts SWAT standoff in Mountain View [Breaking]
A man fired a pistol and threatened neighbors with the gun, then holed up in a Mountain View home Sunday in an hours-long standoff with SWAT officers and police negotiators, an official said.
About 4:45 p.m., as the standoff was ongoing, the man fired at least one round at officers, who were not hurt and did not return fire, Lt. Adam Sharki said. The Police Department asked residents in the area to shelter in place. The incident began just before 9 a.m. after a 911 caller reported that the man fired at least round at a home on T Street near South 45th Street. Other callers then reported that the man was outside the home, waiving a gun at neighbors and threatening to kill them, Sharki said.When patrol officers arrived, they asked the man to come out, but he didn’t comply, so the officers called in a SWAT team and the department’s emergency negotiations team.
