The defendant robbed banks in Rohnert Park on Dec. 5, 2024, and Jan. 2, 2025, and another bank in San Francisco on Dec. 27, 2024.
By Bay City News A Northern California man has been sentenced to seven years in federal prison for robbing three banks and carjacking a rideshare driver during a crime spree that spanned late 2024 and early 2025, prosecutors announced Friday.
James Michael Garrison, 39, was sentenced Thursday by U.S. District Judge Rita F. Lin to 84 months in prison after pleading guilty to three counts of bank robbery and one count of carjacking. According to court documents, Garrison robbed banks in Rohnert Park on Dec. 5, 2024, and Jan. 2, 2025, and another bank in San Francisco on Dec. 27, 2024.
During the robberies, he reportedly threatened bank employees by claiming he had a gun and, in one case, displayed a knife while threatening to shoot people inside the bank. Authorities said he stole about $20,000. Prosecutors said he fled from officers and carjacked a rideshare driver, holding a knife shaped like a handgun to the driver’s head and threatening to shoot him. Garrison has remained in custody since his arrest in 2025.
In addition to the prison sentence, Lin ordered him to serve three years of supervised release following his incarceration.
