Rochester, N.Y. — A registered sex offender is going back to prison after being sentenced for a fatal shooting.
Whitney Morris , 33, was convicted Monday, Dec. 11, 2023, of second-degree murder in the deadly shooting of Christopher Porchea in a parking lot at North Clinton Avenue and Norton Street the night of Friday, Nov. 26, 2021, according to prosecutors. Prosecutors said Whitney Morris , now 33, stalked Christopher Porchea , 51, before shooting him Nov. 26, 2021 in a parking lot at Norton Street and North Clinton Avenue. Porchea died from his injuries three days later.A jury convicted Morris Dec.
“I am relieved that over two and a half years later, the family and friends of Christopher Porchea are finally able to have a resolution to their loved one’s murder,” Assistant District Attorney Perry Duckles said in a statement. Police said Morris was on parole for sexually abusing a 7-year-old girl. Morris was convicted of criminal sexual act in July 2008 for a November 2007 incident and received an 8 1/2-year prison sentence.
