SOUTH SALT LAKE — A man suffered critical injuries after being robbed and run over after he withdrew a large amount of money from an ATM, according to police. Bryan Scott Killpack, 55, was arrested and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of aggravated robbery. The incident happened on Friday at a 7-Eleven on 2102 S. State St. A man had just withdrawn $1,400 from the store ATM, a police booking affidavit states.
"The victim said once he completed his transactions he was going to put the money in his wallet. The victim said before he could put the money in his wallet, Bryan lunged into him from behind and grabbed the money from his hand. The victim said Bryan ran out of the store, and he chased him," according to the affidavit.
"The victim said Bryan turned the truck sharply, and the victim was hit by the truck and knocked to the ground. The victim said a portion of the tire ran over his arms, leaving behind scrapes and tire rash," the affidavit states. South Salt Lake police officer Shaun Ward said the victim "received critical, but non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators believe this was more of a crime of opportunity rather than a premeditated crime.
" Detectives collected several surveillance videos from nearby businesses, some that showed the truck exiting the parking lot onto southbound State Street. "After reviewing all of the video, and by means of technology, we located the vehicle used in this incident," police wrote in the affidavit. "The vehicle was eventually stopped by Summit County deputies, and Bryan was driving the vehicle involved in this incident.
