He was arrested and charged with 13 counts of causing false public alarm.

Police have arrested a man on 13 counts of causing false public alarm after he allegedly made a series of calls to police reporting a person with a gun was going to shoot himself.

The Gloucester County Emergency Response Center received the calls between June 23 and July 30 of this year, according to the Monroe Township Police Department. During each call, various businesses along or near North Black Horse Pike were named as the locations where the incidents were taking place, police said.

The calls prompted a “thorough police response during each event, which often caused a disruption to our businesses,” police said in a press release about the case. Following a three-month investigation, authorities determined the calls were being placed by a 28-year-old Willingboro man temporarily residing at the Pike Inn Motel in Monroe Township. He was placed in Salem County Correctional Facility pending a detention hearing on the charges.
