A man recently released from prison after serving a sentence for aggravated robbery has been arrested in connection with a Westlake home burglary.
WESTLAKE , Ohio – A man recently released from prison after serving a sentence for aggravated robbery has been arrested in connection with a Westlake home burglary. A Roseland Way resident at 7:20 a.m.
on July 7 called the Westlake Police Department to report that a burglar was in his house. The resident heard a door chime, went downstairs, and found fur coats discarded on the floor. The resident never saw the suspect. The suspect was gone by the time officers arrived, but they found evidence of forcible entry into the house. Officers collected drops of blood left behind. The DNA results identified a 38-year-old Akron man as a suspect. The man was on parole for previous crimes, according to a police department statement. Officers arrested the suspect on July 31. He had recently been released from prison after a 15-year sentence for aggravated robbery. Officers recovered property stolen from the Westlake resident during the arrest. The suspect was charged with felony burglary from a residence and taken to the Cuyahoga County Jail, where he was being held on $500,000 bond, according to a police department press release.
