The woman was left with cuts and bruises on her face
The victim, 25, was travelling in Merseyside when she was attacked by a man who punched her in the face. The suspect then got off the train at James Street. It happened at around 10.47pm on Saturday, August 19.
The man was described as a white man, with dark hair, and of slim build, and he was wearing grey and black joggers and a jacket. Officers believe there are witnesses who police are yet to speak to. They are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed it to get in touch.A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: "Officers are appealing for witnesses after a young woman was assaulted on board a train in Liverpool. On 19 August, at around 10.
"She suffered bruising and a cut to her face. The man then left the train at James Street. He was described as a white man, with dark hair, and of slim build, and he was wearing grey and black joggers and jacket. "Officers believe there were witnesses in the carriage who have not yet spoken to police. Anyone with information is asked to get in touch with BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 856 of 19/08/23.
