The man accused of killing University of Utah Football player Aaron Lowe in 2021 entered a guilty plea on Monday, March 11, 2024. Buk Mawut Buk also pleaded guilty to attempted murder for shooting a victim who ultimately survived. According to a statement from the Salt Lake District Attorney's Office on Monday, as the victims lay injured on the ground, Buk continued to shoot them. Lowe died at the scene. The survivor underwent surgery for multiple injuries after being taken to the hospital.
'(Buk) shot the victims and then walked up and shot them again,' a detective reported in an arrest affidavit filed Oct. 3. 'The surviving victim stated (Buk) was trying to ‘finish them off.''
