A man on a scooter was killed when hit by vehicle in downtown Houston.
A man riding a scooter early Sunday in downtown Houston was hit by a vehicle and died in the hospital, according to Houston Police Department officials.
The man was riding his scooter around 12:30 a.m. along Louisiana Street and was struck by a pickup truck at the intersection of Pease Street. The pickup truck was traveling west on Pease Street. The driver fled, Sgt. David Rose told Metro Video Services.The rider of the scooter was thrown into the intersection, Rose said.
Witnesses told police the man on the scooter had the right of way and the driver ran a red light, Rose said. The witness accounts have not been verified by video evidence as of Sunday morning. Police had no identifying information on the vehicle as of Sunday morning. The investigation is ongoing.
