A 39-year-old man was fatally crushed between a tractor-trailer and a building at a Seguin bottle factory. The incident is under investigation.

A 39-year-old man, Arlen Vargas, died Thursday evening after being crushed between a tractor-trailer and a building at the Niagara Bottling, LLC factory in Seguin. The incident occurred just after 6:30 p.m. in the 1700 block of 8th St. According to the Seguin Police Department, Vargas exited his vehicle and was near the building when he was pinned. The circumstances surrounding why Vargas left his vehicle remain unclear.

The truck driver involved in the incident told police he was authorized to back into the loading dock area and await further instructions. After a Niagara employee requested the driver to slightly reposition the trailer, the driver complied. Moments later, employees discovered Vargas trapped behind the trailer when they opened the loading dock's door. They instructed the driver to move the truck to free him.Employees immediately began performing CPR on Vargas. When first responders arrived, they continued CPR efforts, but Vargas was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Seguin Police Department stated that no criminal charges are anticipated at this time. The department's Criminal Investigation Division will conduct a thorough investigation into Vargas' death
