Man killed in National City stabbing [Breaking]
A 52-year-old man who was found Saturday afternoon in a National City parking lot with multiple stab wounds has died, and a suspect has been arrested in connection with the homicide, police said.
National City officers responded to a report just before 1 p.m. that someone had been stabbed and subsequently run over by a car, said police Sgt. Vincent Fernando. When they arrived, they found the victim in a public parking lot near the intersection of E. 8th Street and A Avenue. He was treated and then taken to a trauma center where he died from his wounds, reported Fernando.
Police have identified the victim but are not releasing his name, pending notification of his family. In the course of investigating the incident, officers identified the suspect as Thornell Brown, 54, who was later arrested after a National City police officer saw Brown driving his vehicle on National City Boulevard near W. 16th Street. Officers stopped Brown and arrested him on suspicion of murder, Fernando said.
National City police are asking any witnesses who may have information or video recordings of the incident to call the department at 619-336-4457. Individuals may also submit tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 888-580-TIPS.
