A man armed with a knife was fatally shot by Chicago police officers during an incident at an apartment building in Little Village early Friday morning.
Chicago police said a man with a knife was shot and killed by officers in Little Village Friday morning. The incident occurred at about 2:10 a.m. at a CHA apartment building called Albany Terrace Apartments in the 3000-block of West 21st Place. Police said they responded to a call of a person with a knife on the sixth floor of the building. After officers knocked on an apartment door, police said they were confronted by a man with a knife who advanced at them.
Officers fired multiple times at the man, who was shot and transported to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he later died. No one else was hurt, but two Chicago police officers were transported to the hospital for observation. The Civilian Office of Police Accountability is investigating the incident while the officers involved are placed on routine administrative duties
